Crappy news

Some of you already know but I thought that I should get the word out. Luna has gone blind. She has SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Deterioration Syndrome--fancy name for a pretty mysterious condition). It comes on very suddenly without warning and is irreversible. Pretty depressing for all of us but we are learning to cope. She is navigating the house and yard pretty well but she counts on us to give her advance warning of obstacles. Guess we are her seeing eye people. She still loves to chase her ball (see the new one with a bell inside?) and go for walks so she is still enjoying a "dog's life". Just makes you realize how tenuous life is when things can change so quickly.

Progress???

I'm not so sure about this.
Ron decided he wanted to build a bear den at the back of our property. He enlisted the help of a couple of neighbors and this is the progress so far. It still needs a roof but I think any bear would be proud to call this home.
I did tell them if Yogi got cupboard doors before I did then we would have a problem.

Spring has sprung!!

It's been a really long winter but finally it appears we are moving on. Trillium and morels are a good sign!!

Sorry!

It's been way too long since I last posted. It's not that nothing has been going on or that I have been too busy...just somewhere in between.
Winter still has us in it's icy grip although we saw our first chipmunk of the season (they apparently hibernate). Considering it was 2 degrees I bet he wishes he had slept in a little longer.
Ron continues to toil on kitchen cabinets. He did build this very spiffy countertop for the pass through between the kitchen and dining room. It's just the right height that everyone leans on it like a bar while I am doing dishes. Maybe it's just because everyone we know finds leaning on a bar familiar!
Hopefully this will be the last picture for this season that I post of the snow. These squirrels keep Luna entertained and if you look closely there is another one on the way. Even they are exhibiting "Spring Fever". Love is definitely in the air around here.
Speaking of that...Monday Ron and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. I couldn't feel any more lucky that I found such a great guy and I am grateful everyday that we are together.
Now back to work honey and get those cabinets done!!

Not complaining

(And what good would it do anyway?)
I know we moved to the north woods and snow is part of the deal but how high do you suppose this "Marge Simpson hairdo" will get?

Totally geeked!!

Had three bull elk come in this morning. They get to over 800 pounds. Ron even got some great video which is surprising because they are pretty shy.
We feel so lucky to live here...some people drive a thousand miles just to see what wanders up in our backyard!!
