This is just wrong...

...on so many levels. May 8th and we get SNOW!?! We even hosted a pistol match which meant shooting with parkas and gloves (hey it is PRACTICAL Pistol after all!). Actually also had a match the weekend before and we were sweating to death. Go figure.

Kind of sad

Here's the last bit of snow in the backyard...looks lonely doesn't it? I'm sure by the end of the day it will have joined it's brothers and sisters in the home of Winter 09-10. It was a very mild season..temps were above normal and snow amounts were way low. I think my "southern" friends had a rougher time than we did.
Of course this may not be the last visit we have of our flake friends...some snow showers are predicted this weekend but it will just be a poignant farewell...until next time!

2010...Can you believe it?!? It will be 5 years since we moved to this northern paradise. We have made lots of new friends but treasure those that we have known for longer. We feel lucky and blessed to have you all in our lives. Stay well and stay in touch!

Slow in coming

November was unusually warm so there really was no snow to mention. We were wondering if we were going to get off easy this winter. Apparently not. So far we have had over 16 inches and it is still coming down. Looking good for another White Christmas. Luna is okay with that!

Not the nicest of days...

...but some of our neighbors decided to take a stroll to the range.
I think we were all hoping for a bit of Indian Summer...guess not.

Season's End

This morning was the annual Mackinac Bridge Walk. Got up early to be on the bridge as the sun came up. Beautiful morning that we shared with a few thousand strangers. Kind of sad that this marks the end of Summer. Fortunately Fall is usually very pretty and if the early leaf turning is any indication we'd better enjoy it fast!

Bad, bad blogger!

Waaaay too long since I last posted...Sorry!. Hope you enjoy the flowers.
No good reason why I have been absent. We have had a bit of company that kept us busy but that was just fun. In fact, our favorite poster around here came to check out the Wolverine View in person. Yep...Cousin Leigh! She and and her husband, Tom, braved the dirt roads and visited us for a couple of days. In turn, we made them into pistol packin' desperadoes! We pretty much put a gun in any one's hand that is interested! Hope we gave them the bug and they will be back to keep up their considerable skills. (It was obvious that the two of us are related, Leigh took right to it!)
Even with all of that excitement this has pretty much been the summer that wasn't. Very cool temps, except for those 3 hot ones when our friends, Bob and Linda, were here. Linda and I kept cool enough in the craft room (basement) but Bob and Ron sweated it out on the range every day. Are you seeing a theme here? All this shooting may be why there hasn't been any house projects finished lately! Oh well, winter will be here soon enough! I'll try to post again before the snow flies...as long as it waits until after Labor Day!! Keep your fingers crossed.
